Fatigue

In a broader sense, fatigue generally means the failure of being able to maintain the force required in a muscular activity. Many people know of this failure as being unable to complete a game but the source of it still remains a mystery to many.

Sport

The amount of fatigue a sportsman experiences mainly depends on the kind of sports being played. Games like tennis, soccer and sprinting, take a lot out of players as they require them to be on their feet for long durations.

Sports Supplements: The Effects of Fatigue on Athletes

All professional athletes know what it feels like after going through a really tough game of tennis. The loss of energy during a game means that the players often have to battle with fatigue to get through a set. This is where the importance of energy enhancing supplements is recognized. Sports supplements help the athletes by boosting their energy levels along with cutting down the levels of other difficulties that a professional athlete faces like anxiety and stress.

Sleep Deprivation

Research has shown that getting extra hours of sleep can significantly affect the performance of the athlete. Proper sleep is particularly important for professional tennis players. Many professional tennis players have to travel throughout the year for tournaments and competitions which is one of the main reasons of athletes not being able to get regular and sufficient sleep.

The lack of proper sleep also has a negative effect on the mood of the player as well as their reaction time. This disturbance in their cognitive function badly disturbs their ability to perform in the tennis match. Though a sport supplement is no equivalent for a good night's sleep, it does help the athlete by reducing the levels of anxiety and nervousness throughout and after the game.

General Mental Preparedness

This brings us to the next point. Though fatigue is almost always caused by physical exertion that may not always be the case for Tennis athletes, fatigue also includes another area which is the psyche or the brain. Mental fatigue refers to the reduction in or lack of motivation during a physically exhausting game.

The majority of mental fatigue is thereby blamed on the inability of the athlete to control their central drive or nervous system during a game due to an increased level of exhaustion. As far as a game like tennis is concerned, this is usually true. Therefore, adding a sport supplement makes you stay in a game for a longer period of time.

Staying Power

Due to the contraction of muscles during a game, the body uses more energy than it can produce resulting in the rise of mental and physical fatigue levels. High level of fatigue acts as a lock between the cross bridge of the mind and body, and slows down the body's ability to respond naturally during a physically exhausting game.

For most players, the only way to stay in the game longer is to deal with the pain and work harder, but adding an extra sports supplement to your regime can do wonders for the recovery process.
